This weekend we took a drive up to Perryville to support our friend Tony who was running the Diamond in the Rough Triathlon. It was such a nice morning and a beautiful spot in Cecil County- right where the Susquehanna and Chesapeake Bay meet. Lilly got to meet Tony for the first time and she experienced her first race. She had so much fun cheering on Tony!
Of course I took my camera. This was one of my first times shooting action shots. I didn't do so well. I played around with the settings and even tried the Auto Sports setting but I had a lot of trouble focusing in on the action. I guess I need more practice. Still I was able to get decent shots and because I had my zoom lens I was able to get Tony swimming-which was awesome-some just ended up a bit blurry. Any photogs out there have advice with shooting moving objects? I tried everything-even playing around with the shutter speed but I think my combination of settings just were not aligned well enough to get the perfect shot. Guess I still need some practice with this one!
Tony did AWESOME! His goal was to complete the tri in 2 hours and 40 minutes and he did even better finishing at 2 hours and 33 minutes. Way to go Tone! He came in 4th in his age group-just one place away from a prize. These things are not easy! Tony plans to run a full iron man and possibly even do a 50 miler. Wow. Tony is so dedicated that we had to go to one of his races to see him and introduce him to Lilly. We keep joking that for one of his training runs he should just run out to our house! We are so proud of him!!
Here are some of the shots from the race!
We can't wait for the next race! Go Tony!!
