I'm a runnin'!

I have been kicking myself for some time now for not signing up for some sort of race this fall.  Signing up for races makes me run-otherwise I find excuses not to.  I was nervous to commit to a half marathon since it's a pretty solid time commitment that I don't know if I really have right now- but I toyed around with signing up for the Baltimore Running Festival 5K or Team Relay but never really got around to it-thinking about it was actually all the effort I made-and I think I may have blogged about it at some point-anyone recall that? Enter-regret.

I've been really working hard at loosing this post pregnancy pudge and have been working out when I can-either in the mornings or on the weekends and if I had a race to run I would be even better at not hitting snooze for the bajillionth time.  All in all I am pretty happy that I am doing soemthing-even if it's not super consistant right now.  THEN-as if the running gods were answering my prayers (really wasn't praying to run since I kinda hate it-but let's just say my regret was no more!)- A friend of mine  who was planning on running the Baltimore Team Relay with a group of ladies (who all had babies recently) contacted me asking if I wanted her spot since she just found out she would have to be out of town for a wedding that weekend.   I happily accepted and I am now running 5.7 miles on October 15th in the Baltimore Running Festival.  Wahoo!
Enter-panic-AHHHH  I have  4 weeks until race day- but I can do it!  I know I can.  Since I can pretty much do 2 miles I am hoping to just keep increasing my distance and hopefully I can get up to 5 before race day at least.  I figure if I can do 5, .7 more won't be a big deal will be doable.

I am really excited and have already logged in 2 miles to my training which started this week.  Tomorrow I plan on running 3 miles.  I checked the race details and it looks like I am starting out the race so that's good because I can get it over with early and cheer on my team mates and other friends I know running that day.

So excited that now I have even more motivation to get my butt in gear!!!  Updates to come!
