Happy Happy Birthday beautiful Lillian Grace! Born on this day, March 25th, 2011 at 12:39pm. You were beautiful and still are and you never cease to amaze us all 366 days of your little life. So much has happened in this year. You have gone from eating and sleeping and needing mommy and daddy every moment to really developing into your own little person and becoming Miss Independent. Oh boy do you have personality! You make us laugh and you are truly a sweet little girl. You are so smart and I am amazed at how much you have learned and are learning!
My baby is no longer a baby. I think the word is toddler but I will probably still use the term baby until you are 40 (sorry in advance). You are doing so much now! You are walking, saying words like nana (banana), duck, you bark like a dog and 'giggle' like a monkey. You are always pointing at everything and you are so excited by life! You LOVE music. Drums, Daddy's guitar, your Barney CD, the hotdog song, and even Katy Perry!
One of the best moments is when you wake up from a nap or in the morning and you smile through your paci. When I pick you up you lay your head on my shoulder and I feel your little hand tapping my back as if you say: "morning mommy-I love you!".
You are the friendliest kid I know. You smile at strangers in the grocery store and most people stop and say hi or smile back. One man even told me that he was having a horrible day and that you made it all better when you waved to him and smiled. One day when we were enjoying this wonderful weather we have been having, a 2 year old little girl was walking as well and you ran up to her and gave her a huge hug. I hope you stay this way little one. What a great thing to be so happy and friendly! It's one of my favorite things about you.
You are wearing 12-18 months clothing. You have grown in the past few weeks because you are fitting into more and more of your 18 month clothes and less and less into some of your 12 month clothes. PJ's seem to be the first to go. You are wearing a size 3-4 shoe (depending on the brand) and a size 4 diaper. I may try out size 5's as the 4's are getting a bit snugger these days. I won't get your 12 month stats until your check up the day after your birthday but I will add them once we do. I've put you on our scale and you seem to be a little over 20 lbs. You definitely LOVE to eat especially bananas, grapes, strawberries, peaches, noodles, dino nuggets, cheerios and goldfish. You have just started getting some whole milk too in your bottles and we have one more can of formula to go and then no more! (Yeah for mommy and daddy's wallet!)
You are walking/running everywhere. In February you started toddling and then it was like you never wanted to stop. You practiced yourself getting up time and time again when you fell and taking more and more steps each time and now you walk like a pro! Sometimes you go too fast and topple over but you always get back up again! What determination!
I have to say it's bittersweet that you are no longer my infant baby. I remember like it was yesterday waiting for you to arrive and when you did your daddy and I fell in love with you the moment we saw that full head of black hair-it's something I cannot describe. I am looking forward to what is next though: your second year-I just know we are going to have so much fun with you experiencing many more firsts and even some seconds that really are going to seem like firsts because you will be able to experience them in a different way!
Lillian Grace you are one special kiddo. Your dad and I are looking for the many adventures we have to come!
