Long weekend and 14 months!

Ahhhhh 3 day weekends.  They don't come often (for free) but when they do they are certainly enjoyed.  We enjoyed this one to the fullest with virtually NO PLANS!  I love those two words when they coincide with a weekend.  We had a little bit of an unplanned outing to get a new hot water heater after I discovered on Friday night that ours had started leaking but that didn't stop us from having some fun too!  Friday Tommy had a show and had to leave right after work so when I left work I picked up Lilly and we had a dinner date!  I took her to Brooms Bloom Dairy which has yummy food and even yummier ice cream.  On the way there we had the windows down and I taught her to "wahooooo" to the weekend (arms in the air squeeeeeing).  She belly laughed after every squeeeee-I loved it!

We got grilled cheese and soup and Lilly ate every bite!  She had so much fun pointing to all the cows.  Ice creams came with our meals and they made a cone special for Lilly (very small amount of vanilla) and she had her first very own ice cream cone and she loved it!  It was rough when I had to pull the sticky soggy end of the cone away from her but she got over it when I let her run in the field with all of the other kids.  The only thing that would have made this evening better was if daddy could have been there with us.

It was such a beautiful evening in Harford County!  I love where we live!

Sticky and happy!!

On Saturday we spent the morning at Home Depot and Lilly and I ran some errands (we picked up a kiddie pool!)  and our new hot water heater was installed by my awesome handy hubby.  We met up with the Zink's for dinner at LaTolteca for Angela's birthday.  We had a blast-maybe a little too much fun!

 Lilly and her buddy Amie

And of course we had a another beautiful ending to a great day!  Beautiful!!!  Lilly was wiped and slept hard after a busy busy day.

We really enjoyed ourselves on Sunday.  Lilly woke up after sleeping in and had her morning coffee.  We bought this chair at Wal-Mart and it was the best $5.00 I've ever spent.  Lilly wouldn't let me leave the store without it and she's been sitting in it every chance she can get!

We spent Sunday relaxing, swimming in the kiddie pool, eating Popsicles, and grilling out.  It was wonderful!

Memorial day we were lazy.  We took our traditional morning run to Wegmans and a walk early on but then it got hot so we played inside and took naps and then went over Mimi and Pa's for a Memorial Day cookout and to cool off in the pool.  I forgot my camera but we took a few on Tommy's phone so I don't have any right now to insert-so here's another cute photo of Lilly!

I swear our life isn't all unicorns and rainbows but we are having such a great time together as a family, things are going well, and not even a hot water heater crapping out on us can get us down.  By far our lives aren't perfect but why be a downer?  Life is only as good as what you make of it-I feel pretty sorry for people who are negative 99.9% of the time-Life is too short! We are enjoying this time of year to the fullest and having a blast with our Lilly.  This past Friday she turned 14 months.  GAH!  She's just growing up so fast and Tommy and I are having so much fun watching her learn new things and take it all in.

She is doing so much I hope I don't forget it all!  Let's start with basic stats:  Lilly is about 22 pounds or so and seems to be growing taller every day.  I think she's going through a growth spurt because she's eating like crazy and is back to taking 2 naps a day.  She even slept for 4 hours one day at day care!  She's wearing 18 month clothes and some 24 months and a size 4.5 shoe.  She is our big girl! (who sometimes hates wearing dresses)

Lilly loves:  playing outside-especially swinging and sliding.  She loves to play with her kitchen and play food and she even pretends that she's cooking! She could push around her baby stroller and shopping cart all day.

And this girlfriend loves to eat!

She has been talking up a storm lately and has been doing a lot of repeating.  She can say (and I may have forgotten a word or two):  ball, teeth duck, truck, drum, book, apple, banana, dadda, mamma, fish, vacuum, uh oh, up, noodle.  Those are the words she can say the best but she has been working on others.  She used to not say mama at all but now that's one of the words she says almost all the time now!  She points to our pictures around the house pointing to Tommy and I saying mama, dadda, mama, dada.  She has begun to follow directions and she loves to throw things in the trash.  Her newest trick is flushing the toilet.  She LOVES books!  This kid is going to be a bookworm just like mama!  She can even point to many of the pictures in her animal book when we ask her to find them.  Her favorite animals are dogs, monkeys, zebras, and fish.  She can also make lots of animal sounds!  Her favorite books are My Little Animal Book, Spot goes to the park, Where is Peter Rabbit, Brown Bear Brown Bear what do you see? and Ladybug Girl.

Not only is this kiddo smart-she plays a mean drum:

Lilly is such a happy and fun kid.  She has, however, started to have more and more moments where she tosses that head back and has a mini tantrum-but girl just knows what she wants.  It's gotten a bit more challenging now that we are trying to only give her the paci for naps and bedtime.

With her paci, feeding Animal mustard (she carries around this 'bottle' of mustard all.the.time.)

I've caved and given it to her while we are in the car-but other than that she's paci free all other times.  It's been 2 days but we've heard her little voice chatting away more and have seen that sweet smile of hers and it's all worth it!

But she can go from this:

to this:

and back to this:

All in a matter of clicks with my camera.

Oh and nothing makes her happier than the Happy Napper Commercial.  SHE.LOVES.IT.

There are some things that Lilly does not like and they include: sitting still-which pretty much eliminates sitting in the high chair when she's finished eating-when she's done, girlfriend is done!  long(ish) car rides unless she's listening to Barney.  Riding in the stroller when one other parent is walk next to it.  She's perfectly fine with one of us pushing but bring the other along and she wants out!  Getting her diaper changed is often a chore-we celebrate when she is smiling and laying still for the process.

This month we did a lot of playing outside-there is the reason we are so happy-lots and lots of vitamin D!  We celebrated Mother's Day, Memorial Day, and ate Popsicles on the front stoop.  We took lots of walks and just enjoyed each others company.

What a fun month it has been Lilly Grace.  You are growing like lightning and mommy and daddy are having so much fun growing with you!  We love you sweet little girlie!

Oh and Happy Memorial Day!  Thank you to all those who are serving and have served our wonderful country.
