This month Lilly has just blossomed. Her vocabulary is expanding and I feel like she says something new everyday. Some of her newest words are: heavy, milk, mine, snake (sssss), snack, walk, up, down, juice, dip, shoe, shirt (sounds like something else), sit, out, cook, pretty much repeats all simple words. A first this month is putting two words together. She will say Bye Daddy, Mommy etc. The first time she said it was when we were turning off the tv after she watched her morning show-she said "Bye Doc" (we were watching Doc McSuffins). Here is a video of her saying some words and animal sounds. She loves when I turn the screen around so she can see herself. What a little ham!
This month Lilly had a few firsts. She experienced her first Olympics! We asked her if she was going to be in the Olympics and she said "Yesh". She's getting to be the little gymnast lately so it could be possible!
Sleeping in is something that is new-and by sleeping in I mean 7 or 7:30 as opposed to 6 am. She now has a new bed time of 8pm on most nights but there are some days she ready still at 7:30. A big first is that there are no more tears when being dropped off at daycare for the last 2-3 weeks. She acts like we aren't even there when we take her into her room. She's the social butterfly saying hi to everyone we pass as we walk to her classroom.
We've been busy this month wrapping up our summer. We had a great vacation at Bethany Beach. Lilly is a little beach bum and loved the sand, water, seagulls, and beach treats-in no particular order!
Lilly's school had a few family events that we attended-Story Time Live where Lilly got to meet Curious George and a family carnival. It was so fun seeing Lilly interact with her friends and staff there-she walked around like she owned the place!
One of our favorite places we go is Brooms Blooms Dairy for dinner and ice cream. I am pretty sure Lilly loves it too! She loves the peanut butter and jelly and the strawberry ice cream!
Sometimes I just like to sit back and watch the view:
Lilly had a play date with her friends Sydney and Clara. We actually had a successful picture this time-all the girls sat and looked at the camera (or really us being goofballs trying to get them all to smile at the same time). It's funny to see how much they have grown since our very first play date last summer!

Lilly has lots of favorite things right now! She loves trucks-especially scoopers and is always pointing them out when we see them in the car. Her Mimi sent her home one day with a new toy and she loves it! Scoop it up!
Lilly is a growing girl. She still loves her food-especially peas and corn. Those her her favorites. I love watching her eat her corn-I swear she eats it like an adult! It's too cute! Who knew watching a toddler eat would be so entertaining-is it just me?
Lilly is now officially now in size 5 shoe. Her 4.5's are just too small now-especially with socks. We're down to one pair of play shoes that fit and I just ordered her a new pair that should be here any day now! She's a size 4 diaper, 18-24 month clothes. I suspect she will still be in 18 month clothes for the Fall but I am buying 24 month sizes for winter. We actually took advantage of the tax free shopping week and got Lilly a few transition outfits to tie her over until winter. She still has some Spring clothes that will fit that will work for Fall too. I am guessing she's around 24 lbs now. Maybe 23.5. Her growth has definitely slowed down now that she's constantly moving!! She's also getting tall! I am not sure exactly how tall but I can tell when I rock her to sleep that her legs seem longer!
In addition to her new words Lilly is also a pro at animal sounds and identifying animals so far she can identify: rooster, snake, horse, cow, owl, bird, bunny, turtle, frog, duck, tiger, lion, fish, sheep, goose, butterfly, kookaburra, monkey, giraffe, dog, cat, squirrel, pig, elephant, and flamingos (she loves all the purple flamingos in our neighbors yards. She can identify all her body parts (she even says hiney!). She repeats everything and seems to remember everything too-even if she just sees or hears it once. The other morning I was putting on my make-up and she came in asking for "dip!". I realized she wanted my make-up brush and of course she also had to have the make-up too (it was closed). She dips the brush and put on the make-up! She even gave Violet a make-over! Make-up artist in training?
Lilly still loves her books! Her favorite books are: "Goodnight Moon", "Little Bunny" and "Kiss Goodnight Sam". When we read "Goodnight Moon" she always says: "shhhh" when we get to the part when the old lady whispers "hush". My favorite though is when we read "Kiss Goodnight Sam". There is a part when Sam's mom asks: "Ready now Sam?" and Sam replies: "Oh No". Whenever we read "Ready now Sam?" Lilly chimes in and says: "Oh no!" I about died when she did it for the first time! Lilly has also become a little mom. She plays so well rocking her babies. She even wraps them in her blankets and says: "Ah baby!".
My darling Lillian Grace. The summer of your second year is almost over. I can almost smell Fall in the air. I am excited though because we have so many plans for the Fall and I know you will have so much fun! Watching you grow every day has truly been a blessing. I don't think I can pick a favorite moment with you but what brings me the most joy everyday is this view:
Well most days you aren't crunching on the apple but seeing your little smile and little arms reaching out to me every day when I get home makes whatever happened during the day vanish. You are everything! Our afternoon walks with me you and your daddy are so fun. I love seeing you explore-picking up sticks, pine cones, and even ants! You have no fear and love bugs.
I love that we have started fun traditions and even though you won't remember them I can tell you when we still do them a few years from now how much you used to love them! Sunday's are a day for relaxing and doing things we don't normally do daily-like eat breakfast while watching cartoons! You think it's the best thing!
Lilly you are growing up so fast. While daddy and I were organizing the basement this weekend you climbed into your old car seat. I cannot believe how tiny you were at just 5 days old and how big you are 17 months later.
Words cannot express how much your daddy and I love you! Happy 17 months! I am looking forward to all the adventures that lay ahead!!
