Tommy-21 months

Baby boy you are 21 months today, February 8th.  I just love this age.  It is so awesome to see you learning and growing everyday.  It's amazing and hands down one of the coolest parts about being a parent.  Each month brings new changes and I am so proud of all you have accomplished in such a short 21 months.  You are so smart, handsome and sweet too!

This month has been pretty uneventful compared to the last 3 we just had.  We have had a few snow days and while those have been fun and you love having a mommy day they have also been pretty hard on the routine and you had some rough mornings at drop off.  Mommy is ready for spring already so you can burn off some energy outside!  You do love the snow though.  You can just sit and watch it fall out the window yelling "no! no!".  One 'snow' day we were able to escape to Jump on it-one of your favorite places right now!  Mommy loves it too because you always get a good nap in after jumping for 2 hours.

We celebrated Grammy's birthday with dinner and cake-you LOVE blowing out the candles.  I can't remember now how many times we had to sing.

I cannot believe I am saying this but you have turned into my sleeper!  You started sleeping in over Christmas break but now you sleep until 6:30/7 consistently.  Maybe you are just growing or it's just a phase but I will take it now for as long as you want (especially since your sister has been the one waking me up at night!)

Now, let me tell you about your best friend who just so happens to be your sister.  You two can get into it but man do you love her (she loves you too) and you guys have really started having some fun together and you want to do everything she does...queue picture montage to the tune of "best friend".

For Christmas you got your very own roller-skates and helmet (because you loved playing with Lilly's).

We weren't sure if you were ready yet but one warmer (above freezing) day we bundled up and gave them a try (in our pj's no doubt).  They have 3 settings and the first setting the wheels are locked so you are basically walking on the skates.  You did awesome and you had a blast!

I feel like overnight you just started talking like a big kid!  New words are added each day and I couldn't be more proud!  Some new words and phrases: touchdown, drink, play, pick (when you want me to pick a dino to play with), milka milk (chocolate milk).  heart (you always point to your heart too-so endearing!).  You also say:  There it is, where's (Lilly, mommy, daddy etc.).  In addition to the verbal communication you are just getting it.  You follow directions, you understand what we tell you, and you are making connections.  Again, you amaze me and I am so glad you are really coming along now.

You are such a good helper especially when it comes to cleaning up your toys-much unlike your sister.  You really like helping Daddy with the dishes too!

Some milestones this month:  You get to stay up a bit later.  You can jump with both feet off the ground and can tiptoe!

You have actually started liking books and will sit long enough to read them.  You are very particular though and your favorites are Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you see, Goodnight Moon, Your Animal picture book, Tickle Time, and Little Chimp.  You also have pulled out Little Bethlehem, a Christmas book.

You still love bath time!

You are still a BIG eater.  Not only are you my eater but you love trying new things.  You LOVED chips and queso-you even tried to drink it!  Mommy wanted to so the same!

At the moment you are wearing 18 month clothes and some 24 month items.  You have graduated to size 5 diapers and you are wearing a 6 wise shoe.  I am guessing you are around 26 pounds?  You are a peanut but I think it's because you move SO much!  It's constant.  I wish I could burn calories like you must.

On your 21 month 'birth'day we went to the zoo.  The weather forecast said it would be in the 50's so we jumped on the opportunity.  It was an overcast day and chilly in the morning but it was a perfect zoo day.  No one froze and the animals were very active.  A few we missed because it was too cold for them this time of year but we got to see a lot including the new penguin exhibit.  You even got to feed the giraffe-what a cool experience!  Aunt Kristie, cousins Allie and Emily, and Pa came with us.

You picked out a giraffe stuffed at the gift shop!

You did not want to leave clearly!

Happy 21 months little boy!  We have an exciting February coming up with Valentine's day and mommy's birthday.  2 is getting so close.  Luckily I have Lilly's birthday to focus on next so I won't get the chance to think about it too much.  You are growing up so fast.  Slow down little man!
