2 weeks as a mom..

..and I have learned a lot!  It's amazing how much of motherhood is simply instinct and then there are the other things that take a lot of learning and a lot of practice and you even have a few mistakes along the way.  I was worried before that if she cried or fussed I wouldn't know what was wrong but you quickly pick up the reason for the scrunchiness and can fix it just like that.  Breast feeding on the other hand is HARD work!  There are so many 'philosophies' out there and I've tried a few only to find that what may work for one person may not work for you and your baby so I have stopped 'researching' and have just been going with the 'flow'-pun intended!  It has gotten a lot easier but boy were there a few times I wanted to give up.  But 2 weeks in and we finally got the hang of it.  I rejoice when I see yellow poop and lots of pee because that means I am doing something right!

So far, my two weeks as a mom as already taught me that...

Babies are not as fragile as you think.  I panicked about putting a onesie over her head and now I am a pro.

I  am now a germ-a-phobe-hand sanitizer is on every level of our house.  Tommy has actually become one too!  We laugh because we thought we wanted our kid to eat dirt and get germs-nope-not now anyway-I am sure we will lighten up a bit.

I should never promise NOT to do things pre-baby because many of them have gone out the window-for example-when she's sleeping I sometimes check on her to make sure she's alive.  Yup I've become one of those moms (for now).  I've gotten better especially at night.  I don't wake up anymore to some whimpering and yawning as I did the first week.

I CAN survive on 4 hours of sleep (even 1 hour).  Mommy adrenaline kicked in the moment she was born.  Pre-baby I thought I NEEDED 8-9 hours to function.  Now I am thrilled and lucky that most nights Lilly sleeps only waking up 2- 3 times to eat for 20 minutes.

Days of our Lives still sucks and I miss Passions.

Etsy is even MORE addicting after the baby is born-currently waiting on a few girlie flowery headbands-as if she didn't have enough already!  These were so cheap and I got a deal for buying a few items from the seller.

Baby girl clothes are HARD to resist!

As much as I hate clutter and having 'stuff'-I don't mind that it looks like Babies R Us threw up in our house.  I love her stuff!

You shouldn't change a diaper at first 'fart'

Professional photo sessions are a MUST!!!  We placed our orders last night for prints.  I cannot wait to get them!!

It was so ok we didn't have our nursery done before she's was born because I have so many more ideas for it now she's here!  (Our goal is to have most of it done by next weekend so I will post pictures then!)  I am super pumped about the large bunny decal I got (from Etsy of course) that will look as if the bunny is peering into her crib!
I have a greater appreciation for my mom and my grandmother (who did this 7 times!)  I have many pictures of me, my mom, grandmother and great-grandmother and I am sure Lilly will have many as well.

I cannot believe it's been 2 weeks already (I know I said that about week 1).  Lilly has already changed so much.  She's reacting to music, sounds, and light.  She loves staring at our ceiling fans for whatever reason.  It's the best feeling in the world when she just stares at me and her daddy like she's still checking us out.  I was looking at her today and I really think she's starting to look more like her daddy.  Here is our Lilly-pie (not sure where I got that one from-but I called her that one day and it stuck) at 2 weeks-I promise I will stop the weekly photos and switch to just monthly updates soon!:
This is going to be her:  "PLEASE"  face.  How can we resist it!
 Great-Gram came to visit!!

Hello!

There have been a few milestones this week.  Her belly button finally made an appearance the other day and she had her first real bath-not just a wipe down.  This made me discover that much to my dismay she's going to have her mom's thin/straight greasy hair :(.  After I washed her hair it was so beautiful and fluffy-she looked like a little chick!  This morning when she woke up she looked like a grease monkey again.  I washed just her hair and face this morning (she is a messy eater and always has a milk stash) and it looks beautiful again.  I was hoping she was going to get Tommy's lustrous thick locks but it looks unlikely-I can still hope though!
After her bath!  I forgot to brush her hair right away and it stayed sticking straight up!
Happy 2 weeks Lilly!
