Let me take a moment to brag about my husband. I mentioned this in Lillian's birth story but I think it deserves it's own post. My husband is AWESOME. Ever since the day we went into the hospital and had Lillian, Tommy has become the perfect doting Daddy and I love that I married a man who is so loving and caring-of course it's one of the reasons I married him-I knew he would make an awesome Daddy. Lillian already has him wrapped around her finger! Watch out boys..you gotta get past her Daddy first!
The other day my mom watched Lilly for a few hours when we went out to run some errands. It was nice to get out of the house for a bit. We went to Carters to get some girl outfits for Lilly and Tommy-who isn't a shopper mind you-couldn't resist all of the girly clothes-only he doesn't prefer pink we came home with lots of girly blues, oranges, purples, and greens, and ok SOME pink for mommy. He pick out outfits that said Daddy's Princess because Mommy couldn't get all of the love! I love that her wardrobe isn't so yellow and green anymore! Thanks to everyone who has showered our little one with lots of cute outfits! I cannot wait for her to model them all! Here is one her Daddy picked out!
Tommy has done so much-from mastering the swaddle and diaper change, to making sure he asked all the right questions to the nurses and doctors in the hospital to when we come home being a great help by cleaning, cooking, and just loving us-Especially his Lillian Grace. I just gush with love for him when I see him snuggling her, kissing her, and just doting on her. She really is Daddy's Little Girl! I Love it! Sometimes I even have to fight him to hold her myself. It's so funny to see him jump to check on her when she lets out her little cry.
Poor thing is just as sleep deprived as I am-although I have been letting him sleep since he's the one working right now. He's been so tired that lately he's been 'talking' nonsense in his sleep. Once when we were in the hospital he woke up calling for Lilly and when I asked if the nurse brought her he said-she's right there (pointing to the meal tray). I was so confused because I kept saying why would the nursery just open the door and leave her there. I was starting to panic. But then I reassured him she wasn't in our room and he just laid back down and went back to sleep. I was trying not to laugh my staples out. We had a good laugh about it the next morning when I told him about it. The second time was last night. I was up feeding Lilly and Tommy was sound asleep. All of the sudden he sat up and asked me how long the ladies will take to travel here. I was so confused. I kept asking him if he was awake and he said yes (this morning he tells me he does remember this and was awake but I don't know!). I just probed him asking: What ladies Tommy? He said: I don't remember but how long will it take for them to get here? How far do they travel? I just kept asking him WHO he was talking about and started rattling off names. He had no clue. Eventually after some unsuccessful probing, he went back to sleep. We had a great laugh this morning and while he remembered this-he thought it happened the night before not last night. We still haven't figured out who these ladies are that are traveling to our house-I asked him if he was dream cheating on me-he assured me he wasn't. I have to admit after this happened I was slightly freaked out since I was picturing 3 old ladies-maybe he saw some ghosts or something in his dream...but that's just my active imagination. Well I guess we will see who these ladies are soon?? Any ladies planning on visiting us?? How long will it take you to travel? Hahaha!
It's funny because Tommy and I have talked about it and we cannot imagine not knowing now that she was going to be a girl. It seems like we have always known. I may have known deep down because every time I heard Darius Rucker's "It won't be like this for long" I bawled like a baby thinking of Tommy and his possible 'Little Girl'. So for your listening and viewing pleasure...
Some of my favorites of Tommy and Lilly:
Hanging out with dad in their undershirts!
So happy to be with her Daddy!
"He didnt have to wake up
He'd been up all nite
Lay'n there in bed listen'n
To his new born baby cry
He makes a pot of coffee
He splashes water on his face
His wife gives him a kiss and says
It gonna be OK"
"It wont be like this for long
One day soon we'll look back laugh'n
At the week we brought her home
This phase is gonna fly by
So baby just hold on
It wont be like this for long"
