Lillian Grace's Christening

"Go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"
(Matthew 28:19) 19

On May 22, 2011 Lillian Grace was baptized at Saint Athanasius Roman Catholic Church at 12:00pm by Father Robert Dimattei.  What a special day it was!  Originally it was supposed to be Lilly and one other baby getting baptized.  Because of space we had to use the baptismal font in the front of the chapel.  This was a bit disappointing since my Grandmother was baptized in the same chapel and the baptismal font that she was baptized with was restored yet, due to it's age and weight was in the back of the chapel and couldn't be moved.  It would have been too small to fit both babies and their families around the font in the back of the church.  We were sad, but we were promised we could take pictures around the font and sort of 'pretend' after the actual baptism.  My Grandmother was praying that when the day came we would be able to use that baptismal font even though I told her I didn't think it would work out with the other family being there even though Father Rob really knows how much we would love for it to happen.  Well darn it if her prayers didn't come true!  When we arrived at the church Father Rob told us that the other baby was sick and they canceled so guess what-we were able to use my grandmothers font!   We felt bad because we really weren't glad the baby was sick-we were just happy it worked out so that we could have this special moment that meant so much to my Grandmother.  We really didn't wish the sickness on the other poor baby.  So we hope the other baby is ok and that he will recover so he can have his baptism soon!  My Grandmother will be praying for him since her prayers WORK!  Hopefully his Christening day will be just as special as Lilly's!

 Gram re-living her baptism!

Lilly looked so beautiful and even though I am a bit biased she had the most beautiful Christening gown.  My mom and I ordered it on line here at My Girl Dresses.  Here are some pictures of us getting her ready.
 Ready to get baptized!
I look so pretty!!

Father Rob is wonderful and we knew that he would make this service so special for our Lillian Grace just as he did our wedding a year and half ago (it really seemed like we were JUST there getting married!)  Lilly was a little angel the entire time.  She slept soundly and even cracked a sleep smile when Father was praying over her.  She didn't make a peep the entire time-even when the water was being poured over her head.  MUST have been the practicing we did in the bath!
 Our little family

Lilly's godparents were my brother and sister and Tommy's two sisters.  It was great to have all of our siblings such a special part of her day.

Our parents also made the day extra special.  The love they have for our Lilly is so fun to see and the support for Tommy and I is endless.  We really cannot thank the four of them enough.  Lilly even received an extra special gift from Mimi and Pa.  She was given a ring that Tommy's dads father wore at his baptism, Mr. Tom wore it at his baptism as did Tommy.  It was now being passed down to Lillian who wore it on a chain around her neck-it looked so beautiful and it was so special to not only have some of my family history involved in the ceremony but also Tommy's family history.  It really was beautiful and so very meaningful to Tommy and I.

I have to also give a very special shout out to my mom-Grammy Lainey.  She knows how to host a party and she pulled out all of the stops.  The food was wonderful and everything looked gorgeous!  My work paled in comparison to what my mom did and I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart-it was the perfect celebration.

Here are some more pictures from the ceremony and the celebration.

Praise God!

 God Bless Lillian Grace!
