My first day back

SUCKED!

ok so the day wasn't really that bad...here is what I did:

5:30am-hit the snooze button
5:40am-showered got ready, got Lilly up (who slept all night from 9-6:15!!!), fed her  a bottle, pumped and then proceded to spill it all over the kitchen floor, made coffee, made myself a bagel for the road, got dressed,  then shed a single tear as I said by to Lilly who seemed more interested in playing with the toys on the bouncy seat-this all accomplished by 6:45am
6:50-got everything in my car started it put it in reverse only to remember that this wasn't my mode of transportation into work anymore-Tommy needed it since it had the car seat and was safer than our dinosaur egg Echo.  Unloaded everything from the Civic into the Echo but forgot my coffee (didn't really need it anyway) and was on my way to work
7:30-stopped at Dunkin Donut to make myself  feel better with a frozen hot chocolate-they were all out FAIL!
7:45am-arrived at work
8:00am-begain working shuffled things around -started aimlessly at my 1,00000000000 e-mails -wondered what it was I used to do...this went on pretty much all day as well as making massive lists.  Our office is moving to a new building on campus so I did do some cleaning and packing and was excited to find out that I will have off Thursday due to the move since the movers will be spending all day Thursday moving/setting up computers/phones etc so we will be office-less.  All in all the day went by really fast.
4:15pm-Sped drove to my sister in laws house to pick up my smiling Lilly! (side note-Tommy is staying home with Lilly pretty much but on the days/times he has to work it sometimes overlaps with when I am still at work so Lilly gets to spend a few hours with her Aunt Barbara Ann and cousins Katie, Emily and Kelly)  I swear I couldn't contain myself the entire ride home.  I was so excited to see her little smiling face that I thought of the whole day.

The plan was to get in a 30 minute work out once I got home but all I wanted to do was snuggle and hold my Lilly.  It was a great evening and bed time came way too fast.  I have figured that working out is really going to be a luxury and I am sure I will figure something out once we get into a routine (I say that now but not sure that will ever happen)

I think I will get the hang of this whole working mom thing but it's going to be hard-not just leaving Lilly every day because I know she's very well taken care of and loved while I am away -but when I come home I just want to be with her and not make dinners, clean up, do laundry.  Luckily my husband is an awesome house husband.  I came home to a clean kitchen and strait living room and get this-HE MADE THE BED!  I didn't even do that!  Since he was getting off work at 8 I whipped up a quick dinner and made a mental not to myself that I need to start making meals to freeze on the weekends-I don't want to waste any more time cooking.  I even had a chance after she went to bed to throw in a load of laundry and write this blog.  I've decided it's time to grow up and I need to stay up at bit later (at least until 10).  I've gotten used to running on less sleep and really sleeping through the night from 10-5 is glorious when you have an almost 3 month old!  The nice thing about this week is that Wednesday will be a partial day for me and Thursday I have off due to our office move.  It was nice to come back to a slightly easy week and i am looking forward to having a nice clean office with a window!

  1. Glad you survived your first day back! Getting a workout schedule is hard to do, but once you start it you will be much happier. I started swimming a few days a week at lunch (I can use the college pool, which is fairly empty in the summer with students gone, I'm guessing you could do the same) and than I either run or ride my bike a few days a week after Kieran is in bed. Last night was cool enough that I took Kieran in the jogging stroller when I got home and got my run in earlier.
