Things are happening...

The Smith household has been buzzing.  We are straight up busy.  The past 3 weeks (and even before that) has been a big transition for us for many reasons and I am looking forward to finally be comfortable with the new pace of life around here!

Lilly started day care and is working on her 4th week.  She's getting more used to it and Tommy and I are really happy with it so far.  It's been an adjustment for her and us but so far we are transitioning well.  She did get sent home twice in two weeks though which has made it very eventful!  The first time was on her first day.  She broke out in a rash and because rashes are so hard to diagnose, I had to come get her and take her to the doctor just to rule out anything contagious.  It was just a reaction to her measles shot thankfully and she was cleared to return.  Fast forward to EXACTLY a week later when they called me again telling me they think Lilly had pink eye.  Sure enough she had a super gooey eye and I had to trek to the doctors again to get it checked out.  Once she had been on antibiotics she was good to go.  Poor thing!  Friends, family, and co-workers have been telling me to expect her (and us) to be getting sick more often now that she's in daycare for the first month or so-it's looking to be a fact.  She's now onto a runny nose and cough which according to her doctor is really something we cannot really do anything about since it appears to be just a cold or allergies.  Other than that- Lilly is doing well at daycare.  For the first 3 weeks she would cry when I dropped her off but the end of last week and today she didn't make a peep!  I was happy and sad all at the same time.  Before I know it she is going to be running away from me!

On April 16th I ran my first 10K.  Unfortunately I wasn't in top shape yet so I was SLOOOOW but I made it-hills and all-without having to walk once in a little over an hour.  I had a lot of fun and I am looking forward to keeping up with running now.  I figure if I can run 6.2 miles barely training, I can do even better if I continue to train so next time I sign up for a race I will be ready!  I am thinking in the Fall it may be time for another 1/2 marathon!

Clyde 10K runners before:  Uncle Pat, Ange, me, and my cousin Pat

This guy got me up a huge hill!  Thanks stranger!

We made it!  Have to admit a HUGE motivation was the free beer at the end!

Lately we have been having some NIIIIIIICE weather!  Like open the windows and let the breeze come in weather.

We have had a lot of fun trying to get out and about and Lilly LOVES being outside so we try to take her out as much as possible.  We even dined outdoors a few weekends ago at Mountain Branch Country Club and it was a blast!

Another change/adjustment that has happened in Smith household recently is that Tommy got a new job!!This may have been obvious since all of the talk of daycare but let me officially say how proud I am of my husband and all he has done for our family.  It's been a crazy past 2 years and there have been a lot of changes between then and now and looking back I cannot have imagined we would have ended up where we are.  With a lot of planning, prayer, and thought we have made the best possible decision for our family and Tommy is happy- which makes me happy!  He's currently still juggling two bands which is adding to some of the stress we are feeling since Tommy isn't around on Friday and Saturday nights and really tired on Sundays but we are making it work for now!  I love you Tommy and all you have done for me and our girlie-I couldn't have asked for a better husband and daddy for our Lilly!

This past weekend we are stayed at my parents since Tommy was away for a show on Friday.  We had fun spending some time with Grammy and Gramps!  We already had some fun last weekend with them-Lilly certainly loves her Grumps!

On Friday night after work I picked up Lilly from day care, went home to feed Lilly and get her a bath and in pj's, tossed some items in a bag and headed to my parents.  By the time we hit 95 Lilly was asleep and when I got to my parents she went right into the crib.  It was a nice night so my best friend Robyn came over to catch up and my mom, dad, and Robyn and I sat around a bonfire chatting.

Since I was at my parents I was able to make a hair appointment at my favorite salon in Federal Hill-M Salon.  I always love how Brittani cuts my hair and this time was no exception! I got a mini mommy makeover-hair done and brows waxed.  I feel like a new woman!  I NEVER take self pics but here are a few so you can see my hair.

On Saturday after my hair cut my mom, Lilly and I went to the mall.  We did some shopping and then since Tommy had a day show down the road in Ellicott City it was the perfect opportunity to take Lilly to see her daddy play the drums.  We were worried we would be rained out but the rain held off just long enough to hear a few songs.  I was kicking myself for not having my camera with me but here are some crappy blackberry shots.

On Sunday we did some spring cleaning and of course Lilly wanted to help!

We also removed her changing pad from her changer/dresser.  She now has a big girl dresser!

Later we had a great dinner and enjoyed the rest of the day!

This past Wednesday Lilly was 13 months!  A whole year and a month wiser.  Instead of doing a whole separate post now, I figured I would work our monthly posts into our general updates.  I promise you (and Lilly) that I won't be doing these much longer-as in you won't be getting a 324 month update.  I figured 24 months is a perfect benchmark and after that random updates will be sufficient.  Who knows, maybe then I will be starting all over again with another LO...but all in good time people...we still have lots more to enjoy with this bugger!

Since her first birthday Lilly has been one busy lady.  She's becoming more independent and this girl does NOT miss a trick.  I can just see it in her eyes she knows JUST what is going on.

She's saying more words now like up, hot, all done, teeth, daddy (instead of dada), she says ding dong whenever she pushes the doorbell on her Little People doll house and this weekend she also said good girl.  She says banana like a champ and we've been working on saying more and bottle and of course mommy.  She still will not say mommy!  She will say mama when she's whining sometimes but other than that she will not call me mommy or mama-it's either dado or dada.  When you ask he where mommy is she will point to me and if I show her a picture of me and ask her who it is she points to me but she won't call me mama!  We will work on that.  She does VERY well recognizing people.  I was over my parents this past weekend and we had a room full of people and we asked her where everyone was and she got it right all the time.  She even points to herself when you ask her where Lilly is!

Lilly LOVES to brush her teeth.  Here she is above just casually brushing.  We've gotten into a routine before bedtime to brush her teeth after her bath.  As soon as I pull her out of the tub she starts heading to the sink saying "teeth!  teeth!".  I hope she likes it just as much when it matters even more!

She has also started getting better at self feeding foods that require a spoon and in fact sometimes is the only way she will eat her applesauce and yogurt now.  Sometimes when she gets frustrated with the spoon she will start just shoveling it into her mouth with her hand but she's getting better!

Above is a picture of her at the mall after we took her to Stride Rite to get new shoes and have her sized. I wish I took pictures in the store but she did so well when they measured her feet!  She's a 4-4 1/2.  I think she's going to have small feel like her mama!  Since we went to the Doctors just a week ago she weighed in at 21 lbs and 15 oz.  She didn't grow too much since her one year check up-just a few ounces.  She is officially out of 12 month clothing and wearing 18 months and even a few 24 month items.  She's in a size 4 diaper although for not much longer I am thinking.  She's growing so much and those baby days are almost gone.  I cherish the evenings after her bottle when she just sits on my lap and snuggles.  In a blink of an eye these moments will be gone so I am trying to enjoy every moment while they last!

So that brings you up to speed with us and the crazy ride we have been on lately.  I wouldn't trade it for the world...
