Baby #2: 16 weeks FAIL

Well I don't have a 16 week picture for Baby #2.  Already he or she is getting the shaft.  We have had a crazy past few days.  On Saturday we had a great day getting our Christmas Tree but as we were getting ready to go out to dinner Lilly got sick.  Since we were in the car (ick!) we had to turn around and get her cleaned up and then the fun really started.  She got sick almost every hour for 8 hours.  It was horrible.  We both smelled like puke and she screamed every time she would throw up-it was heart breaking.  Luckily at 1:30am she fell asleep and didn't wake up until 6:45.  She woke up asking for a snack and water and was better-I was so glad.  I felt so helpless.  It was pretty much inevitable I would get sick too as Lilly puked all over me multiple times.

I started getting sick Sunday night and it was the same thing.  It was awful.  Bring pregnant and sick is NOT fun.  Well, my bought of the stomach bug hit me worse and I ended up getting dehydrated.  I couldn't keep anything in my system and being pregnant I already need more fluids than the average person.

Long story short Tommy took me to Patient first Monday night after I started with a low grade fever.  Probably a bad idea.  Patient first was trying to tell me I had gestational diabetes.  I was crying and miserable and just wanted to be home.  After blood work all was fine with my sugar levels and the doctor told me I needed an IV and potassium.  I refused to go to the ER-I just wanted to be home and since I had been ok with drinking fluids and keeping them down for the past few hours I decided going home and rest.  I was frustrated, tired, and just sick.

After picking up some Gatorade and bananas at the store I came home and drank a large Gatorade and had a half a banana.  I just felt worse.  It ended up coming up a few minutes later and that's when Tommy (and my mom) decided that I needed to go to the ER for an IV.  My parents came over to sit with Lilly and off we went.

I will spare all the details but 5 hours, more blood work (since they didn't trust Patient First-ha!) and 1 IV later I was feeling almost 100% better.  The ER process was LONG and because I guess I wasn't high priority we just waited.  It wasn't until I threw a fit that I wanted to go home they finally just discharged me without me seeing the ER doctor.  We got home at 4:45am.

I am feeling SO much better-just tired and still a little weak.  Poor Tommy didn't even get to sleep-he pretty much just got ready for work and took Lilly to school.  I feel so bad but I am so grateful he took me and stayed with me the whole time.

Now I am just resting and napping and hoping to feel myself in the next day or two.  They told me I could return to work on Thursday, but I am hoping maybe I will go back tomorrow-we will see.

So needless to say my bump picture fell by the wayside and now I am one day away from 17 weeks so you will get my 17 week picture in the next few days.

On a good note, I have my growth ultra sound tomorrow and will hopefully get reassurance that all is well with the babe after my death plague.  We also will be able to find out the sex of the baby tomorrow!!!  Of course we plan to wait til Christmas for the big reveal but I am so excited to have that envelope in our hands.  Let's just hope the baby cooperates.

I have also been able to feel the baby move on a few occasions.  Nothing huge but a few distinct movements and kicks.  I loved feeling Lilly move about-there is something comforting about it.  I actually felt a little kick when I was getting my IV.  Guess that was the babies way for saying thanks for giving me a drink mom!

So this post is pictureless-sorry for the black and white.  Hopefully since I have some down time today I will catch up on some posts that are long overdue.  So stay tuned!!!
