Holiday Cheer Fail!

Good thing Lilly isn't quite old enough to understand some things about the holidays.  Don't get me wrong-she understands more than we think.  The other day Tommy asked her where the baby was and she immediately patted my belly and said "Mommy's belly".  So she gets more than we give her credit for.  Now, if she gets that the baby is going to come out and change her life forever-who knows.

So per a previous post-was it my last one?  I don't know.  You know that this week has been a bit rough for us.  Amidst that we have been trying to keep up with the holiday spirit with our Elf on the Shelf Clarence and I have even been able to get a few treats together for Lilly for The feast of Saint Nicholas-you know-THIS tradition.  While we are not German, being Catholic, we always recognized the feast day and participated in the shoe tradition.

Well my friends...Clarence hasn't moved in 3 days.  He literally is the Elf on the Shelf.

I mean to move him each night but then life happens or the ER happens and it's over and the next morning and there he is on his shelf.  We did do it right for his first visit and he was even caught hanging from our ceiling fan but alas he remains and honestly-as excited as I was to do the EOTS this year-Lilly just doesn't get the whole naughty/nice thing.

She's a toddler and no matter how much we tell her that Clarence can see her hiding behind the Christmas tree and that she better come out because Santa will get the report-she just giggles or laughs and thinks it's a fun game.  SO I think Clarence will remain the Elf literally on the Shelf this year as a decoration.  Lilly definitely sees him and calls him "elf" and thinks he's cool and wants to touch him-but she's just not into the elf magic quite yet.   Seriously though next year I am taking tips from this fellow blogger.  She rocks EOTS and I am jealous

AND-to top it all off-I MISSED Saint Nicholas!!!!  While his feast day is on December 6th Saint Nick leaves treats on the 5th for children to wake up to on the 6th.  Not Lilly.  Womp Womp!  Again thank goodness!  He did come this morning and left Lilly some extra special treats!  A (Jesus) Christmas book that she LOVED and treats-one naughty shoes (kisses) and one nice shoe (raisins).

So while I am feeling better, I am still feeling a bit run down and I am trying to get my holiday mojo back up and running.  Listening to Christmas and Holiday tunes help.  I think I am going to start wrapping some packages and a Christmas light walk around the neighborhood is needed stat.  Perhaps I will start small and finally blog about our trip to the tree farm to get our tree.  That will lift my spirits reliving the fun day!  Stay tuned folks!
