Oh Christmas Tree!

There is something about a real Christmas tree that is one of MY holiday MUSTS.  I think artificial trees can be nice and I've seen beautiful ones but they just aren't for me.  There is something about the smell of the tree farm, choosing the best and most beautiful tree, cutting it down, strapping it to your car, and setting it up getting it juuuuuuust right all the while inhaling the aroma of pine and sap that just screams CHRISTMAS IS HERE!  It's been a tradition in my family ever since I can remember and when Tommy and I started our own family we continued that tradition.  The first weekend in December is tree weekend and that's exactly what we did again this year.

We have a tree farm we get our tree at every year but this year we decided to head to another farm solely for the fact that there was lots to do for the little ones.  Hay rides, train rides, mazes, petting zoo.  We knew that we wouldn't be getting our tree there but we wanted to check it out and let the kiddos have fun before we headed to the tree farm.  This year my in laws and nieces came along with us and we had a blast.

For some reason Lilly did NOT like the tractor.
But she LOVED the animals
Waiting for the train!
Hay rides are fun!

Once we finished all the fun activities (ELF!), we headed over to Jarrettsville Tree Farm for lunch and to chop down the next Smith family tree!

It started getting really warm so we got to go jacket free!  It was a beautiful day!
We found our tree!
I love how Lilly is sticking her whole head through!
Attempting a cousin shot...this was the best one-seriously.

What a fun day!  Lilly was definitely OUT cold on our way home and I had to wake her up at 5 so she would sleep that night.  Unfortunately she started getting sick soon after (I cannot even LOOK at that hot dog picture) but I am glad we were able to enjoy the day.  So many memories-what a great Christmas tradition!
