Week 23: I caught the dreaded death cold. Why must sicknesses seem quadrupled when you are pregnant? I was never sick with Lilly and this is my second illness with this baby boy. He's giving his mama trouble already!
Nothing new to report this week otherwise. Feeling more pregnant this time around. We have really started feeling strong inside and outside kicks. It's so cool! Tommy finally felt him this week too!
I am slowly starting to get some things together. We have done some browsing for Lilly's new big girl bed. I've registered for any needed items for baby boy which isn't much. I've done some clothes shopping-what cute crab and whale prints Carters has out for boys right now-they were hard to resist so I didn't! I am trying to keep everything organized. I really need to get the whole bedroom switch underway before I do any more shopping. Our guest room (Lilly's new room) is currently the holding area for any purchases, Lilly's old clothes, Lilly's 'goody pile' (gifts and surprises for Valentine's Day, Easter, and her birthday that I have been collecting) and some of my 'junk' I need to toss. Once we can get a handle on that I can start organizing more for the baby boy. I have a few items I have my eye on for the big girl room and nursery. I am so excited to be doing some real decorating this time around.
I made my first purchase for 'boying' up his nursery (it's still mainly gender neutral though)-a PBK Chevron crib sheet. It's adorable! Other items I am hoping to get soon: hamper, storage baskets (Lilly's are moving with her) a diaper caddy, wall letters or initials, and a few wall art items as some of the things in there I want to stay with Lilly when she moves. I am hitting up Etsy this time around-there are so many cute Chevron prints and hand made items!
We have some ideas on names we like but nothing has been finalized officially. We will definitely wait on an official name once he's here but I am tempted to pick my fave now so we can get things monogrammed (ahhhh PBK!). BUT I must be patient!
Week 24: The baby is now the size of a cantaloupe. That seems huge to me! Clear indication we are creeping closer and closer! Ah!
This week I determined that I will in fact have plenty of time for my maternity leave and then some. I was worried I was going to have to hoard my vacation and sick time until May but currently as of right now I have enough and more will continue to accrue until May and throughout my maternity leave. So I happily put in time for 2 vacation days surrounding Lilly's birthday. We won't have many just her and I days once the baby arrives and I want to get some in before he's here. It will also help me get things ready and re-group pre and post party as well as have time to take her to her 2 year check up. My last day of work will be May 3rd and I will return on August 12th. It seems like such a long time but as I learned with Lilly it QUICKLY passes-I am sure even more so with this one!
I didn't have time to take a 23 and 24 week bump picture so here is my 23/24 week-taken between the two weeks.
