Every month I say this and every month I promise I will stop but seriously where is my baby? Lilly Grace is now 22 months old. Ready to take on the world and already acting like she's 16 at times. I mean this picture-this doesn't look like an almost 2 year old to me.
I am sure everyone thinks their kid is amazing and so smart and I am just like the masses. So instead of drooling over how smart and awesome my kid is let me just post this video-one thing that amazes me about her is her ability to memorize songs. She walks around signing all of the time and she was really hamming it up the other day. Now I am not the least bit delusional that this means she's going to be the next American Idol or that I am going to start to pimp her out Toddler in Tiaras style but if music and dance and performing is what she loves then I would love to support her in that-just as much as I would if she loved science or math or sports (even softball!). Really this kid just seems to love life-from the birds on our deck feeding from the bird feeder to dancing around in her "Hollywood" glasses as she calls them, to riding in the car looking at the trees-she really does have a love for all things-and I love that!
Some other things Lilly has been doing lately:
She can count to 10 like a pro and I've even heard her add in 11, 12, and 13. She always skips 14 though and adds 15 sometimes.
She is starting to grasp colors better-everything isn't always blue now but when she's feeling lazy or just doesn't want to have anything to do with naming colors she just continues what she's doing without even looking and says: "blue". We are working on that!
She loves to draw and she can draw circles. We're even working on her drawing lines and other shapes as opposed to just scribbling helter skelter-although you gotta love a good aggressive scribble sometimes-she's just being creative!
LOVES her kitchen (chichen) and playing with her dolls-I love watching her role play. It kills me when she tosses her purse over her arm and carrys her keys just like I do.
On a normal lazy day around the house you can always find her in her anywhere chair or feeding her baby!
She's just starting to get into movies-Her favorites right now are The Grinch ,Nemo and Sophia the First and Tangled. We were watching something the other day on fish and they showed a sea anemone and Lilly shouted NEMO! Of course I gushed over the fact that she pointed that out! You CAN learn from Disney movies!
She's also coming into her own with fashion. She loves getting into my jewelry and has been wearing a fake pearl necklace of mine. She decided the other day to pair it with her light up Woody cowboy boots. She was styling!
A big milestone this months was that we made the transition to a toddler bed. Doing well although some nights when she's not SO sleepy we will find her wandering around upstairs-getting into Mommy's nightstand or hiding out in the guest bedroom. She goes back in without a fuss and typically falls right to sleep. So far there have been one 3 incidences with that and she's been really good-we even find she's napping longer again (2.5-3 hours). Maybe she's just growing but I think she likes it better than the crib!
We haven't done too much this month-still winding down from the holidays. We've shared a lot of relaxing weekends which consist of fun things for Lilly and things mommy and daddy need to get done around the house-so I really haven't snapped too many pictures. Some things worth blogging about that Lilly's experienced in her 22nd month are:
Attended Stephanie and Matt's wedding in New York (well she wasn't at the wedding but she had a blast at the hotel and seeing everyone the next day at brunch!)
Lilly rang in her second New Year-2013 she will be 2 and get a baby brother!
We celebrated her Grammy's birthday AND a HUGE Raven's win on the SAME day!
She's just started getting 'ok' at taking pictures again since she's discovered she can "see Lilly" after the shot-this random night after bath time she asked me to take her picture. Here is her best "Cheese" face:
We are only 2 months from her 2nd birthday and plans are already underway. I've done a majority of her birthday shopping avoiding toys-so far this includes things she needs like clothes, shoes, and I went crazy at the Disney store getting her some new plates and some place mats since she's starting to sit in her booster seat more. We may add a few more items like puzzles, books, and some accessories for her babies. But other than that we are avoiding anything that takes up space or cannot be tossed in her toy basket upstairs. We have toys coming out the wazoo from Christmas-some not even out of the boxes yet. Looking forward to doing more planning in the next few months!
Some of Lilly's 22 month stats:
No official weight and height-but we will find out at her 2 year check up the day after her birthday!
She is wearing 24months/2T and I am pretty much getting 2T moving forward. She even has some 3T tee shirts depending on the brand. Some of those girl cut shirts are just so narrow! She's wearing a 5.5 shoe but can wear her 6's I have bought for her and it's probably only a matter of a day when her toe will reach the blue mark inside her 5.5 Stride Rites. We're still recovering from a not so good haircut (I think the girl just parted it wrong) so I am trying to grow it out and fix it in ways she doesn't look like she has a total mullet.
All in all I can notice she's growing in all sorts of ways! My little toddler really seems to be more like a kid these days.
Happy 22 months Lillian Grace. You continue to bring so much joy to our lives. Even though the terrible twos have kicked in, overall they aren't so awful. There are good days and days when mommy and daddy get frustrated but you like to keep us on our toes and I thank you for that! You're teaching us as much as we're teaching you. It's never a dull moment. You have so much personality. Don't ever change-make noise and be a light in this world! We love you so much!
