So 2!!!!! Or as Lilly says when you ask her: "I 2!". I have a 2 year old. Holy cow. 2 years sounds like forever but at the same time it's really no time at all. Little does she know her little world will be changing in about 6 weeks and my 2 year old will be even more grown up (unless of course we go through some regression?!). We celebrated the ending to her 2nd year of life with a big party and of course the festivities continued on her actual birthday on the 25th of March. I was planning on taking off of work but ended up being surprised with a snow day bonus. At first I was super disappointed because I thought our plans for the day would be ruined but they ended up as planned anyway and Lilly (and mommy) was a happy girl!
Sunday night felt like Christmas to me. We wrapped her gifts and we decorated her bed room door (thank you Pinterest) so when she woke up she got to tear through the 'birthday tunnel' and start her day off right! As soon as I heard her call out she was awake I grabbed my camera that I had placed on my nightstand and jumped out of bed. Her face was great when she saw the balloons and streamers. What a great way to wake up on your birthday-this is totally going to be a new tradition. Tommy made fun of me because he asked if we were going to have to sneak into her dorm when she's in college to do this-DUH-of course we are!
We took her downstairs for breakfast and let her see her birthday snow! She was excited it was snowing. I was praying it would stop and clear up so we could have our fun day I planned.
We hung out in the morning waiting for the snow to stop-but the big white fluffy flakes just kept coming. So we go dressed and had a 'snack'. Lilly picked to eat a roll for her snack of all things and I didn't question the birthday princess!
We even enjoyed the snow from indoors and watched the birdies scrounge for food!
Around 9:30 I decided we wouldn't be kept in and while it was still snowing our road had been somewhat cleared and our steps were just slush. I figured we could always come back if it was too bad. We bundled up and strapped on our boots (yea for getting some use out of them!) and ventured to Toys R Us. It really wasn't bad out-just wet like it had rained. I forgot to take my camera with me so I have some pics from my phone of Lilly playing in TRU. We were pretty much the only customers and were there for a good while playing and picking out some toys for her to spend her gift certificate and some of her birthday money. She decided to get some Legos (and so far loves them!) an owl bike helmet, and a new color wonder pad.
Lilly wanted to work like Daddy!
Lilly and her buddy Amie!
We had to bribe Lilly to smile for the camera and this is the best we could do-we all look a little goofy but I love it!
We came home and napped (well Lilly napped while I did some things around the house) and after nap time she woke up and played with her Lego's-she told me she was building a castle!
We invited grandparents over for dinner and cake and did presents from Mommy and Daddy and really had a fun time! We even sang Happy Birthday twice!
She wanted her Super Girl shirt on now! She loved it going around shouting: "Super Lilly!"
Super Girl playing with her new Garden table.
Ice Cream cake-I bought the big one hoping for lots of leftovers for me to eat-hehehehe!

She had a great day and apparently has been talking about it non stop at school! So let's rewind for a second and take a look at this past month. Not too much went on but we did celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday, Saint Patrick's Day, enjoyed some snow (besides the snow on her birthday), had a super NICE warm weekend to enjoy (crazy MD spring) and visited the Easter bunny and of course had a party and celebrated being 2!
Lilly is still loving a lot of the same things right now but still is obsessed with Dr. Seuss books-she cannot seem to get enough! I've also found that she loves building 'castles' with her Lego's. I've never seen her sit occupied for that long with any other 'toy' other than her artwork and books. It's been nice too with the time change being able to go outside and take walks in the evenings or swing and play on our play set. It's hard to get her to come inside most days!
This winter has been a constant battle with colds and ear infections. It's been a vicious cycle. Just when we though we were over the battle we find out she had another ear infection at her 2 year well check. Back on anti-biotic! I hope the weather starts to warm up so she doesn't catch another cold once she's off the medicine. Other than that fun news Lilly did great at her check up (thanks Doc McStuffins). She let Dr. Minton check her ears, eyes, and everything like a little angel! Mama was proud.
Lilly's official 2 year stats: 27lbs 12 oz and 35 inches tall. According to the 2 year rule if you double their height at 2 that's the height they will be when they are fully grown. So that means Lilly will be 5'10"!!! Wow. Now we have some height in the family on both sides but I will be surprised if she is in fact 5'10". If she's wearing heels she will almost be as tall as her Daddy! With me being 5'3" I guess I was assuming as a girl, she would take more after me. Check back when I do Lilly's 18 year post to find out! ;)
Lilly is officially wearing 2T and 3T clothing (3T in shirts mostly-2T can be so skimpy!) and a size 6 shoe.
Lately this kid is like a sponge-she seems to take in everything and has a great memory. She's starting to master her colors finally and has developed a love for bugs-mainly the lady bugs that seem to be infesting our house as of late.
She's great at memorizing some of her favorite books and even will 'read' to us some evenings. She's working on learning to pedal her bike and just got a scooter and crazy coupe for her birthday so we will be having lots of fun outside this spring!
We haven't worked on potty training officially yet or getting rid of the paci-Dr. Minton thinks we should wait until after the baby comes as to not throw too many surprises on her at once. She is going on the potty (at least sitting a lot) but we haven't officially broken out of the diapers. My goal is 2 and a half for at least the potty. The 'papi' may stick around a bit longer. Right now she mainly gets it for naps and bedtime but occasionally when we are home she will have it and I am ok with that.
Our dear Lillian Grace-thank you so much for making our lives complete. You are growing into a little person right before our eyes and mommy and daddy are so proud of you! We cannot wait to see what this 3rd year has in store. One big change will be coming-you will have a little brother. I just know you will be a GREAT big sister! Other plans so far include beach trips, a trip to Sesame Place, and spending lots of time over the summer with mommy and little "brover" as you like to call him. It will be a busy year and certainly one we will not forget! We love you dear sweet Lilly!
