Baby is now the size of a butternut squash. YUM!
Well this week was pretty eventful. I guess technically this should be in my 35 week update since my weeks change over on Wednesdays but I normally do my picture and post on the weekends and I thought I would share what happened starting on Wednesday (when I actually turned 34 weeks-confused yet?). Wednesday when I woke up I had some round ligament pain. It was pretty painful but after sitting at work for a bit it went away. Thursday I had my doctors appointment and all went well. It was a pretty quick appointment and my doctor did say with the second baby your muscles aren't as strong so round ligament pain can be worse. Friday we had our admitted students event at work and while I was on my feet, I really don't feel like it was too crazy but I guess my body begged to differ.
Around 11:30 I started getting that familiar pain in my side I experienced on Wednesday and this time it did not go away. In fact it got so bad I could barely walk and was almost in tears by the time I was finished for the day. My boss let me go early and I called the doctor before driving home (since the hospital and her office are right near my work) and was advised to go to Labor and Delivery just to get checked.
Remember how I said I was ready to have this baby? Well when it actually MAY be a reality for your baby to come early it really makes you re-think speaking so soon. I AM NOT ready yet!!!!
I made calls to Tommy and my mom-both assuring them I was fine and I would call them if I needed them. I think Tommy may have been a bit worried but he didn't seem to be over the phone-which helped. My mom on the other hand kinda went nuts telling me she knew I was having this baby early. After I calmed her down we agreed that nothing drastic needed to happen right now since I don't even know what this all means-I definitely did not think I was in labor (and I wasn't). Surprisingly I was completely calm throughout the whole thing-imagine that.
SO. I check in and they pretty much took me back right away-and it seemed like right away but I probably waited maybe 15-20 minutes. Compared to the ER visit back in December that was right away. They hooked me up to the monitors and I described what was wrong to the triage nurse. A little while later I was visited by the head nurse and she asked if I was having contractions. I said no but she informed me I was wrong. I was having them alright and pretty regularly. My jaw hit the floor...THAT's when the thought entered my mind that maybe this little guy was coming early.
They did an internal and took a few tests to make sure the contractions weren't doing anything. I did start noticing them (I most likely was distracted by the RLP to notice them) but they seemed like Braxton Hicks to me-only I was getting them more frequently than usual. It seemed as if all the tests were fine-I wasn't really told otherwise and was given a shot of terbutiline to stop the uterine activity and a bag and a half of fluids. By 7:30 the nurse busted me out and I was able to go home.
I felt a lot better and apparently the pain I was feeling was just Round Ligament pain after all but so glad my gut (or my coworkers) told me to call. I was told to take Tylenol for that if I get it again and to take it easy. I guess I need to learn how to relax because it was really hard this weekend! I just cannot sit still!
I am feeling better-just feeling worn out-but that's probably due to not being able to sleep as well. Here's hoping the rest of this week is quiet!
This little scare also had me realize how little we have accomplished...I need to work on Lilly's room, get some items out to prep for baby, clean the house top to bottom, and get a few must have items before Baby boy arrives. I think I am going to pack my bag this weekend JUST in case he decides to make his arrival before May 8th.
Here is my 34 week bump pic...I look huge and you cannot see the bump too much but I lacked the energy to take another one-this was at my high school lacrosse team Friendship Tournament and alumni brunch this weekend (post on that to come). I was sporting my sweatshirt from 1998...my sophomore year. My 100 pound self must have been swimming in it back then.
