I cannot believe it has been one week since Thomas Everett was born. My little man is already starting to change.
He is such a good baby! Pretty much eating and sleeping-doing all of those things a newborn does. The past two days he's become more alert and staying awake for longer periods of time and it's so cool to see his little expressions and taking in his world.
The first few days home were an adjustment since he seemed to sleep all day and then decide to cluster feed at night but I've been trying to feed him more often during the day and that has seemed to help. The past two nights he has slept for 3 hour stretches and even one 4 hour stretch last night! I have been setting my alarm to make sure he's eating every 3 hours but I accidentally fell back asleep. That is one thing I have noticed the difference between him and Lilly. I can actually sleep. Not sure if it's just because I am THAT tired or just more relaxed. With Lilly I was constantly checking to see if she was breathing and basically had no sleep!
I cannot get over how long his toes and fingers are! I just stare at them every chance I get. I know babies eye color doesn't set for some time but his eyes are so BLUE! Lilly's were more grey/black when she was born so I am hoping his stay blue. It would be cool to have a blue eyed boy! His lashes and eyebrows are SO blonde!
He is still a little peanut. He weighed 7lbs 9oz when born and when we left the hospital he was down to 7lbs 3 oz. We had his one week check up today and I was so proud he was up to 7lbs 13 oz and 20 and 3.4 inches. It makes a breast feeding mama happy to hear! He is long and skinny and Lilly was a bit more chunky.
Currently he is wearing size newborn diapers and he is in newborn clothes and they fit him with some room. I think Lilly was in NB size for maybe a week and even then they were kind of short for her. We had to go buy some NB size outfits since we only had about 4 sleepers and since we went through 3 outfits by 10am this morning we def needed some extras!
Why did we go through so many outfits? This kid pees-A LOT. I was intimidated by changing a boy at first. It was so different from changing a girl. Even when I think I have the little thing pointing down he still manages to pee out from the side or top. Once his belly button falls off I am going to try moving up to size ones to see if that helps.
This week he's had lots of firsts. His first day home, first ride in the car, first doctors appointment (he did so well!), first trip to Target, and first photo shoot. We had Jewell from The Lovely Photo take his pictures-she did Lilly's-and the sneak peak she posted on facebook is adorable! I cannot wait to see the others!!
For me, one week post partum, I am feeling marvelous! Recovery this time around was SO much better! I have actually showered every day too! Now when I have two kids home-showering may not be in the cards for me. But at least I am feeling well. I am having some moments-like crying at commercials or a Baby story-but it's been pretty typical hormonal shifts. It really has helped having such an amazing husband who has done so much for me (us) and has really been spending time and giving lots of attention to Lilly which makes me feel so much better and a lot less guilty.
Happy one week little man. Your dad, me, and big sister are so glad you are here! Our family has grown with love every since you arrived into this world!
