Thomas Everett- 3 months and a look back...

Wow I haven't blogged in a while.  For some reason it just isn't a priority when juggling 2 kids, a husband, a house, life.  Funny the way it is.  This post is bittersweet for me.  Tommy is 3 months which also marks my return to work and Tommy's start at Kiddie Academy.  12 weeks sounded like sooooo much time off and now looking back it was sooooo short!  I have to admit it was a challenge.  Lilly stayed home for the summer and while he was easy she was potty training and going through the terrible two stage-challenging us at every turn.  To quote Taylor Swift it was "miserable and magical oh yea!".   Truth be told those magical moments are the ones that are making me cry right now.

As challenging as being a mom of two is- it's even more rewarding.  Before I get to the 3 month updates for Tommy I want to share some of our most magical moments:

So, Tommy.  My have you changed.  You went from a sleepy newborn to an infant.   No more fussiness at nighttime unless something is bothering you (diaper, hunger, etc.) and we have really gotten into a routine.  We use the EASY method which is eating, activity, sleep, and mommy time-which basically means for me-Lilly time!  You were on an every 3 hour eating schedule for a bit but I suspect you are growing again because you are back to every 2-2.5 hours and some days I feel like you eat every hour!  Must be that 3 month growth spurt I keep reading about everywhere!

You are now in 6 month sizes but SOME 3 month items that are cut larger still fit.  I am already buying 9 month sizes for the cooler months-holy cow!  I don't have weight or height stats but being that you were well above 12 lbs at 2 months I suspect you are well above 13 now.  Maybe even close or at 14!

You are looking more grown up and doing so many more things!  I am amazed at how quickly you have changed.  You now smile and even laugh often, you are using your legs to push up, your neck control is great and while you still aren't too fond of tummy time we do other things to help with your muscle development.  Your really like to look in the mirror during tummy time when you are tolerating it!

Your awake times are getting longer but it really often depends on the day.  You are getting great at night usually going down by 8 or 8:30 and waking at about 3 to eat and right back down til 6:30.  I think the only reason you aren't sleeping through the night is because you are breast fed-I will take it!

(Speaking of breast feeding it's going very well for me this time around.  It was hard with Lilly and I have to admit part or most of it was me.  I was insecure about it and when I went back to work my supply dropped and I just gave up.  With Tommy I am hoping since it's worked so much better this time around I can work through the drop in going back to work and my goal is to breast feed him until at least 6 months and if I can a year.  It's so funny how things change with #2.  Finger crossed!)

You love love your bouncy chair still, the swing, and you are still sleeping in the rock and play.  You love to be talked to and when alert, you love looking around at your surroundings-checking it all out.

This month you went to Bethany Beach-where you rocked the beach nap like it was nobodys business, celebrated some birthdays, took your first small dip in the pool, we went on lots of nature walks, and you started your first day at school.  You are growing up so fast.

You also enjoyed being carried facing outward in the carrier for the first time (attachment parenters give a collective gasp!).  I think you love checking out your surroundings now that you can see better!

You and Lilly are two peas and she is asking to hold you more often and refers to you in front of others as "MY Brother!".  She's already your biggest fan and supporter.  I hope, no, I KNOW, that is just the start.

As far as looks you are the cutest boy I know (biased maybe).  You have light brown hair and VERY light eyebrows.  Your eyes are still blue and I kind of hope they stick!  By this time Lilly's were already going dark.  You definitely seem more fair than your sister.  We shall see!  I think you are so handsome!

Thomas Everett you are 3 months old.  You have graduated to an infant.  Every day I thank my lucky stars you are part of our family. You are so sweet and your smile makes my heart melt.  You are mommy's little boy. Your daddy, sister and I love you so so much.  We are looking forward to watching you grow into a little boy-but don't grow up too fast!  Mommy still needs to get her cuddles in so I don't get all "I Love you Forever" on you.  Happy 3 months Thomas Everett!
