I am really behind right now...things have been crazy-nothing horrible-just crazy-as you know life can be sometimes! So better late than never and hey! 16 months is just around the corner!
What a ride these past 15 months have been. I have learned so much from you and boy have you kept me on my toes! (Daddy too!). You have really changed this month-a little less fussing going on and a lot more communicating. You mimic words, say a good amount of words, and still sign a little. It's helped a lot with your fussing because now you not only know how to say some things but you also are figuring out that you need to communicate. You also happen to know exactly what you want! So while I say a little less fussing there is still some mild tantrums going on when you don't get what you want. It's not like I am being a mean mom-I'm sorry I won't let you go outside, in the rain, when you have had a bath, and it's time for bed. One day you will realize some things I did for your own good!
I am sure every parent thinks their kid is a genius when they do things and I am not unlike the rest. You are bright and in a completely different way than your sister. It's so crazy how two kids can be so a like and yet so different! You observe. I can just see the wheels in your brain turning at times. You listen. You follow directions (well as good as a 1 year old can at times). We can tell you to do something simple and you do it. Your favorite tasks are helping to empty the dishwasher (you even know where things go!) and throwing things in the trash. If we ask you to get your shoes you know exactly where they are and you sit on the step and try to put them on-sometimes you do this to tell us you want to go outside!
I mentioned it above but you know what you want. Your communication skills are definitely soaring this month and I have noticed a big change. When we were at the beach you pointed to the merry-go-round, then yourself to tell me "Ma! I want to ride!". We got you a ticket and put you on and you were so happy! Some of the words you have been saying are: ball, truck, mommy, daddy, Lilly (dd), dog, bottle, milk, eat, drink, water. You can pretty much mimic any simple word too.
You love music. In the car you bop along to pretty much anything although you love your Rafi songs and of course the Frozen soundtrack (probably because you have been listening to it since you were a baby!). I think the funniest thing was when we were listening to 98 ROCK and a heavy metal song came on and you went crazy! :) It was too funny. You are really getting in to playing with your toys and you especially love your play dinosaurs.
A lot happened this month: good, fun, and not so fun-we were busy and sometimes stressed but we all have made it through!! I will start with the fun.
We went to Dutch wonderland. You weren't too crazy about a lot of the rides but you had a good time watching the rides and you loved riding the pony and enjoyed the water park!
We went to the zoo-your second trip actually. You really enjoyed it and even learned a new word: Rhino!
We also went on vacation to Ocean City and stayed on the boardwalk! I probably shouldn't call it a vacation because it was not the least bit relaxing but overall we had fun! I think in the future we shall call these family trips :) You we ok with the beach-you didn't really like the water-I hope this changes next year! I think you like taking walks on the beach and finding shells and rocks the best. You were also a fan of walking the boardwalk-there was so much action! You loved spending time with your cousins too!
This month we transitioned to a new school. I think this was harder on mommy and daddy then you. The first few days was a little bit of an adjustment but now you walk through the halls like you own the joint-waving at the parents dropping off and the teachers. I know you have a blast when I leave. You still fuss a bit when I go but I am told it doesn't last long. I think that is just your age and soon you will be running from me like Lilly does most days.
The worst past about this past month was that you had hand foot and mouth AGAIN. This time it was all over your body. It looked awful BUT you weren't quite as miserable this time around which was good I guess. It still wasn't fun!
I have had to reschedule your 15 month appointment twice and now it is going to be closer to your 16 month birthday so I will update your official weight and height next month. I can say I have noticed that you have grown! You are still more petite then your sister was but your 12 month clothes, especially your shirts, are starting to get small! As it always seems to, it happened over night and of course right at the end of summer. You are going to have to wear some of your summer items a little longer even if they are a tad skimpy because if I get any clothing for you now it will be for Fall/Winter!
A few other things...
You definitely keep me on my toes!
You had your first slurpee on free slurpee day-7/11!
You are still a HUGE eater!
and a mamas boy
You love Lilly so much. You annoy her now but you two also are starting to play together and have fun together more which I love!
Your favorite past time is currently playing with rocks and sticks. You especially love playing with rocks and sticks and throwing them in the river/stream/puddle.
Tommy, you are such a joy! Your smile melts my heart and I love your observant nature. You can take a lot of energy out of me at times but most of the time it's fun! I am so proud to be your mama. Love you little man!
