The Saturday Surprise

Ok so the title of this post is sort of a lie.  Saturday was our family and friends baby shower.  While I wasn't TOLD the date, I pretty much figured it out by process of elimination and the small hints my mom was giving me the last few weeks.  But I HAVE to say I was still SURPRISED.  Actually I shouldn't have been surprised.  I have some of the BEST family and friends and girl could ask for but still I have to say everyone outdid themselves especially my mom, aunt, and grandmother who really made the day extra special.  All I can say is WOW.  There were so many people there that I barely got to talk to everyone (sorry if you were one of them!).  It was like our wedding times 20 because there weren't tables to go around to to make sure you didn't miss anyone!  I could write a novel about every little detail but I will spare you and just sum it up in a few words:

Food: AMAZING, Gifts: in abundance (we had to have an intermission!), Love: it truly was all around us...I felt it in my fingers and my toes...and throughout my whole body (special prize if you can name that movie!!).  I was overjoyed and slightly overwhelmed and normally I am totally cool with being the center of attention ;)
The party lasted well into the next day.  People began to trickle out but a few family members stayed until midnight talking and catching up, still reveling in the excitement.

Tommy and I are truly blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives who support us and genuinely love us and our baby who isn't even here yet.  I cannot imagine the love that Clarence is going to be surrounded by when he/she is born *wipes tears* (stupid hormones!).

Words cannot describe the amount of gratitude I have for my mom.  If I can be half the mom that she was/is my kid is going to be one lucky duck.  She has never ceased to be there for me always, even when I was a brat at times and through all of those angsty teenage years.  I don't know how she did it but she threw one heck of a party and looked amazing while doing it.  Clarence is going to have one awesome Grammy Lainey!

Here are some of my favorite pictures that captured the day...
