Lilly is starting to be really fun! Not that she wasn't before but she's interacting with us even more! She is such a friendly and happy baby. Every time we are out at the store she smiles at everyone who walks by and is constantly taking in her surroundings. People are always commenting on how happy she is. And she really is. The only time she fusses is when she is tired or hungry or we're not giving her enough attention- but don't we all!? It's so cool to see her getting excited about things. The other day while at Wal-Mart we stopped at the Rockin' Elmo display and boy did she go crazy for that thing! If I had had 60 bucks to blow it would have been in our cart-maybe for Christmas! While shopping at Wegmans she got super excited looking up at the balloons, and she's starting to really love playing with her Peter Rabbit-when we walk into her room she stares at him and kicks her legs making her whooo'ing sound (that's what she does when she's excited about something!)
Lord help us when she really starts getting mobile because right now she grabs at everything! She has started realizing that she can roll to things she wants and often I will put her down in one place and come back in the room after tossing her diaper in the trash and she's half way across the carpet. Looks like we may need to start baby proofing soon! She has even made it almost to all fours-I can see crawling in our near future! She is officially a sitter!!! Like everything else it seems she started sitting overnight and acts as if she's been doing it forever. Every once in a while she will loose her balance but she's learned to fall gracefully! She loves sitting-she's enjoying the new perspective.
She now plays peek-a-boo and I love her little giggles when she plays! She still likes her jumperoo but she's liking her independence even more when she's just on the floor surrounded by a few of her favorite toys. She also loves being outside. She is going to be one of those kids that never wants to come in-just like her daddy! She loves blowing raspberries! She loves her food! In the grocery store she goes nuts when I put something in the cart-especially if it's her puffs! I have only given them to her a few times and she's not quite ready for them yet since she hasn't mastered picking them up herself but she eats them pretty well when I feed them to her. She's also trying new foods and since my last post has had peas, mangos, yogurt, and pumpkin and has tried a bit of apple juice (watered down of course!). I am still making her food and it's still fun!! For her 6 month birthday we bought her one of those mesh feeding bags so she can feed herself. It's a bit messy especially with bananas but she loves it!
Lilly is now officially a stomach sleeper! As soon as I lay her down she flips right over and cuddles with her blanket. She goes to bed around 8 and we can lay her down awake and usually she goes right to sleep. We have found that her night sleeping is totally dependent upon how well she naps. If she doesn't nap well she often wakes up a few times in the night-nothing that's a big deal-mainly we just need to get up and give her the paci and she's out again. On the days she gets good naps she sleeps hard! During the week I can always tell the days she naps well and the days she doesn't based on how she rests at night. She's sort of put herself on a nap schedule and typically will nap 3 times a day for 45 minutes-2 hours when she is at home and I've tried to get her in the habit of napping in her crib now on the weekends-daddy tends to lay her on the couch when he's home with her-but I am working on that one! ;)
"You talking about me?!"
She is also really starting to show affection. She will wrap her little arms around your neck when she's happy to see you and will even grab your face and 'kiss' you. It's the best feeling in the world coming home from to to a smiling face and those little arms around my neck!
Loving on her Grammy Lainey!
Lilly is officially in 9 month clothing! She's a growing girl!
She loves chewing on everything! Teeth coming soon maybe?
Lilly had her 6 month check up this week and she weighed in at 17lbs 9oz-such a big girl! She was 26 1/4 inches and is in the 75th percentile for both weight and height. She had her 6 month shots and a flue shot and took them like a champ! She did, however, have a little bit of trouble before bedtime and seemed to be not feeling very well but once we gave her some Tylenol and cuddled a bit she was out like a light! We were able to get in her 6 month photo session on the 25th-and I may have went overboard with taking pictures this time around-I may or may not have taken over 300 shots-not all turned out though! My mom and I took Lilly to a nearby farm that grows sunflowers. The sunflower shots were tricky because all she wanted to do was eat them. I had visions of her holding a sunflower smiling and laughing-nope. She would just go right to picking on the grass or leaves! We found a cool stone building near by and were able to get some cool shots in front of it as well as a few in our backyard against our neighbors fence. I was pretty happy with how they turned out.
The out-takes...
And here are some of my favorites! It was hard to pick the very best because we had a lot of cute ones to pick from but in an effort not to go way overboard I have condensed some in collages...
Happy Half a Year!!!
Happy 7 months, Lilly! Today's Noah's 6-month birthday!
