Days 3, 4, and 5 with 2!

OK so posting daily stopped after Day 2.  The reason:  I was BEAT.  Hump day hit and boy was it a hump day.  It seemed as if the novelty of being home with mom for Lilly wore off.  After her nap on Wednesday, she was a crazed 2 year old.  Honestly I don't even recall anything that really happened to make it so trying but I was frustrated and just needed a break.  I think really because I was just so tired.  Luckily Tommy got home and gave me a break by taking Lilly outside to play and out to the store so I could relax a bit and feed Tommy.  It was needed because this really happened on Tuesday-if it had happened on Wednesday, I think I would have lost it!

All I could do was laugh.  Yes she's eating ranch dip with her hands from the container.  She even came to me and asked me to "take a picture mommy!"  She swiped it off the counter while I was feeding Tommy.  I know something is going down when she's quiet!

Tommy slept great Wednesday night and Thursday was a good day.  I was rested and ready to take on a toddler.  We spent the morning with Mimi and after nap we had a movie date and made popcorn which Lilly loved.  We did have an episode where Lilly put two popcorn kernels up her nose.  I stepped out of the room for a second and when I came back she was asking me to "get it out mommy" and when I asked her what she was talking about she pointed to her nose.  In each nostril there was one kernel.  After I freaked out slightly I managed to get her to blow her nose and work those puppies out.  Whew!  I just had to laugh.

Friday was another great day.  Since it rained, I busted out a few non-opened Christmas gifts so she had some 'new' toys to play with.  We also read lots of books and Lilly did wonderful playing while I tended to Tommy.  She was a gem.  My friend Katie came over for lunch to catch up and now both Lilly and Tommy took naps at the same time so I was able to rest!

All in all life with two, as challenging as it may be, has been great.  I am sure there will be worse days ahead but I am ready!  I am so proud of my Lilly on how she is reacting to Tommy.  She hasn't been jealous and she just adores her brother!  So far she's just been a typical two year old.  It helps that there is some sort of routine kept as well which will help when she goes back to school in August.  And we will definitely be doing lots of play dates!

On top of all this change she has been completely potty trained since Monday.  Yup-one day she was in diapers and the next she was done and hasn't looked back.  She has peeing down.  We're back to having some poop issues and while she went on the potty once, she doesn't sit long enough and did go a bit in her pull up at nap time.  We're working on that and have a special prize for her all ready when she does go. I'm surprise because she's pooped on the potty before but I am just so proud how well she's doing.  I just cannot believe it was that easy.  I think waiting for her to tell us she was ready was key-even though it seemed to be untimely.

"No more diapers!"

I think all of this has been so easy for two other reasons.  One is that Tommy is such an easy going baby.  He cries when he's hungry (or gassy) and it's made it easier for me to tend to big sisters needs.  I felt a bit of mom guilt Wednesday that I wasn't paying as much attention to him since once he was sleeping I was putting him down to give Lilly attention but I guess that's what happens when you have 2.  I have made up for it when Lilly is playing so well on her own by giving him extra snuggles.

The second reason is my husband.  He's helped SO much by picking up, vacuuming for me, making sure dishes aren't in the sink, and helping with Lilly when he gets home.  He's amazing and I cannot tell him enough how much he's helped me.  It's definitely been good for me mentally and physically as well.

I have kept up with my goal of getting up and showering every morning.  Tommy gets up around 5:30 to eat so when he's done I hop in the shower while everyone else is asleep or just waking up.  It makes me feel better and I am ready to tackle the day bright and early.  it's definitely worth more than getting 20 more minutes of sleep.  I've also made a point of making sure I eat and taking nap time to sit and relax or nap a bit.  It's made a world of difference!

First week with two-rocked it!
