My baby boy you are a half a year old! 6 months! We have only 6 more months until you are a toddler. By then you will be walking, maybe talking some, and eating mostly real food. It's SO crazy how in just 12 months you go from being a teeny little needy thing to an 'independent' toddler. I am amazed how fast you have been changing recently. You would think having gone through this all before the whole rapid changes would be old hat but I am still blown away by everything!
I don't want to wish away these next 6 months-there is so much you will do between 6 and 12 months. You will get teeth, crawl, get on a schedule with eating solids, stand...so much more. I am looking forward to all of those firsts! I just hope it goes by just a little slower! On your 6 month birthday you started sitting up like a champ! Over the past few weeks you were still wobbly but just like that you were a pro! You even rode in the seat of a shopping cart in Home Depot for the first time!
You are a growing boy. While you can still squeeze into some 6 month onesies you are in 9 month size clothes. You have a small head and small feet though because the 3-6 month Robeez I bought you still fall off your feet and the 3-6 month baseball and news boy hat I bought you are a little large still. I don't have your official stats yet since your 6 month appointment isn't until the 20th of this month. My guess is that you are close to 18 pounds if not more. I have really noticed how much you have grown when I rock you to sleep at night. You no longer fit in my arms. Your legs dangle way past my hip or my lap. I love that you still let me snuggle you at night though! I cherish those moments because I know how fleeting they are.
You are back to being exclusively breast fed. We had been sending 1 formula bottle a day but you were not drinking it and you were so hungry when I come to pick you up from school. Since evening and weekend work has slowed down I was able to catch up a bit and now I am back to getting 4 bottles of bm for you. We had reached the point where we depleted my freezer stash because many days I didn't come home for feedings and wasn't able to drop off what I pumped. You had been taking formula fine but the past month you out right refused it. Working and pumping all crazy hours isn't easy-but we are pushing through! I am hoping soon to be able to get a nice freezer stash going again but right now you are taking every last drop I pump.
As far as solids go you have now tried carrots, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash-all of them you love. You are starting to actually 'eat' now instead of just taste. I send you with about 1 oz of food to school a day but you aren't on a schedule yet-we're working on it. I mainly started sending you food because you hadn't been drinking your 4th formula bottle and this seems to make you happy until I pick you up. I am looking forward to making you some pumpkin puree with our left over pumpkins!
As far as development goes you are rolling like a champ, you 'swim' when you are on your tummy-boy you are ready to move. You can move around in a circle and have figured out that you can roll to reach stuff. You can grab and grasp at things so well. You really pay attention to the details! And you are sitting up like a pro!
You LOVE your hungry caterpillar rattle-like LOVE.
This month was a busy one! You had some firsts! You watched mommy and daddy participate in the Baltimore Running festival-it was so fun. You just really seemed to enjoy being outside all day.
You celebrated lots of birthdays-including Daddy's!
You had your first school pictures taken-boy are they adorable! Once we get them I will try and scan one to post!
My favorite moment is that you had your first Halloween! You didn't trick or treat or wear a big costume but you looked adorable in your outfits! You had so much fun spending the day with Lilly and mommy and then the evening with family and friends-you even got to hand out candy with Grammy and Gramps!
October is such a busy month for our family. Here are some more fun moments from your 5th month.
I say this every post but you ADORE your sister. You smile at her the moment you see her in the morning. She can make you laugh better than anyone, and you seem to miss her when she is gone. In the car ride home from school you crane your neck to peak at her and my heart melts hearing your giggles as she sings to you. One weekend when Lilly was playing with Mimi and Pa and it was just you and I, you started fussing in the car. I pulled up a video of Lilly singing Puff the Magic Dragon and you immediately stopped. Lilly adores you too and I really hope this friendship continues!
Here is a comparison shot of Lilly and Tommy at 6 months. You can tell Tommy is the second child-no on location photo shoot for him. Maybe one day!
Happy Half Birthday Thomas Everett! You are such a great baby and we all love you so so much!
