My dear Tommy I have to say this month has been a challenging one and a very busy one as well! I feel like a first time mom sometimes when it comes to nursing since I didn't last this long with Lilly. Some of the 'issues' we are having I am experiencing for the first time. You have definitely started nursing less and even went on a nursing strike recently. I am trying to figure out the best schedule and what is going on but I am suspecting teeth! Only time will tell little one! It seems that whenever I think I have something figured out things go and change on me! You are definitely keeping me on my toes little man!
So let's get to the good stuff! This month, while sometimes trying, was also so much fun! You have started eating pretty much anything you are able to gum. You are eating solids 3 times a day and a few snacks thrown in there too. You love yogurt melts and puffs and pears and applesauce are some of your faves. We have also started giving you some table food in addition to purees as well and you love practicing picking them up with your hands and feeding yourself. A lot ends up on the floor right now but you are learning quickly!
As I mentioned earlier you are still nursing. Mommy is pretty proud of herself for making it this far. I am hoping to at least give you breast milk until a year...we shall see if I switch you to bottles full time instead of just at day care. You have started to bite even though you have no teeth yet and OUCH! I cannot imagine what it feels like when the teeth do come in!
Currently you are wearing some 9 month clothes and beginning to fit into some 12 month clothes. Where the 9 month clothes just fit some of the 12 month items you have room in so you have been wearing both! I guess you are in that transition mode. You are currently 17lbs 8oz. You are behind your sister in the weight category. My guess is it's because you are still nursing and she was formula fed? She was 17lbs 9oz at 6 months! You aren't quite there yet at 8 months. I am shocked just because I always thought you would be bigger. Maybe because you are a boy!? There I go being stereotypical-mama's sorry. Your eyes are still the bluest of blue (yea!) and you have light blonde hair!
You are still loving your bath time!
You LOVE to play ball and can even play catch with mommy and daddy! We are so proud. You have great hand eye coordination!
You are now army crawling and can sit up from laying down. We lowered your crib just the other day! I see pulling up soon in your future as you go over to things and look up as to ponder how you can climb it. You even put your hands up on something and we can see the wheels in your brain working. It's only a matter of moments before you figure it out!
We had some firsts this month!
You met Santa twice! The first time you weren't so sure but the second time you tolerated him!
You saw your first snow!
You celebrated your First Christmas! You loved your new toys-especially the ones where you can dump stuff out and put it back in again (you love doing that). Most of all you loved playing with the wrapping paper!
Lilly was itching to see Frozen again and on a whim we took you figuring you would either sleep or one of us would take you out if you were fussy. You did great! You actually watched for a bit and then eventually fell asleep in my arms.
You rang in your first New Year! Really...you woke up ready to party at 11:45 so you saw 2014 with mommy and daddy! Earlier in the day you celebrated with us and your cousin Allie! You had a blast!
You have started babbling and talking more and you say dadadadadadada wonderful! (Why is it always dada first!?)
I just looked back at Lilly's 8 month post and it's funny how similar you guys were. It also made me think of some things we should work on with you! Lilly already had 2 bottom teeth by now which makes me think that is what some of the fussing and drooling is about right now! Here is a comparison shot of you and Lilly at 8 months. While I notice the differences between you two-you both definitely look like brother and sister!
Thomas Everett you are such a sweet boy! You are definitely a mama's boy at times but you light up when you see your daddy! He makes you smile! You also love your sister. You look for her when she isn't around and when you see her you just want to hug and be with her! I love seeing you two interact and play together. While you have had some crankier than normal moments this month your smile seems to make me forget those moments. You have been a joy to get to know and I love you to pieces little one! It's scary to think that in 4 months you will be a year and you will have changed so much from where you are right now! Please just stay little a little longer!
Happy 8 months Tommy!
