Happy to be outside but look at those eyes-and that drool!
and now on with the 13 month post:
Summer is (unofficially) here and you are in your glory with this nice weather. 13 months old and I feel like you are just one of the kids now. It happened over night. You are your happiest out and about and I am so glad the weather has been so nice lately! You currently have two speeds: full speed and sleeping. You wake up ready to go and tackle the world and then you nap and sleep as if someone flipped your off switch. I am getting back in to the 'nap when the kids nap' phase and some days I am thankful for nap time so I can get some of my energy back because boy you can drain it!
This past month the big to do was the celebration of your first birthday! I still cannot believe you are 1 year old! You had a bubble party on May 10th and had a blast! It did rain right as your party started but we still were able to have lots of fun.
That weekend we also celebrated Mother's day and you and your sister certainly made me feel SO special. You even made me a card and surprise at school! I will cherish it forever!
Speaking of school- you have been transitioning to Room 2 already and will be moving up officially once the summer is over. As sad as I am about this transition you certainly need it. The infant room just does not have as much space and you need space to climb and
You LOVE to climb. I catch you climbing on everything at home. Chairs, tables, you name it. We bought you a Step 2 climber with your birthday money so you have something to climb on while we are playing outside and you love it (although most days you prefer climbing up on the table and chairs.
This month you have started to do lots of big boy things! You love to copy your big sister. You love brushing your teeth, playing with your trucks (even making the truck noises!), waking up Lilly in the morning when it's time for school and snuggling with her in her big girl bed, and you have moved up to your big boy car seat which you love because you can see so much more out your window and you love to observe. You are also getting good at puzzles which Lilly never had any interest in. You clap for yourself when you get the piece in the spot! You definitely get this trait (the attention to detail) from your daddy!
You are starting to communicate more- still signing for things like eat and more-but you point to things you want and you can say some things like mama and dada, that, dog (da), truck (uck) and snack. You are starting making animal sounds and right now you love to growl like a lion, bark like a dog, and your new one is the elephant sound where you purse your lips together and blow (the best way I can describe it!). You have also learned to honk like a goose and you love looking at the geese and ducks at Friends Park.
You have shown more interest in books lately and you will bring them over to be and turn to sit in my lap (best thing ever). Your favorites are the Little Animal Book where you are able to point out the elephant, dogs, cats, and the lion. You love the Sandra Boynton books as well especially Doggies! You love making the nnn nnn sound of doggie number 3!
You love to sweep! We can't open the kitchen closet door without you running over saying "eep"!
You also love ice cream!
Compared to your sister at 13 months you are still a little peanut. I think you burn a lot of calories in a day because boy do you eat! You are 20 pounds still and are wearing 12 month clothes (can do some 18 months in the rompers). Your feet have grown- you are in a 4.5 show now. You are still sporting size 4 diapers. You were so good at your 1 year check up even after you threw up on the way there and we had to make a pit stop at Walmart for a new outfit (note to self pack extra clothes in the car!)
You are working on getting your top front two teeth in-I feel like they have been coming down forever. You have your two top side teeth and three on the bottom. You have been much slower at getting those teeth in and they are sprouting up somewhat randomly and not the typical order you see teeth come in. Guess that's a tribute to the 'every kid is different theory. :)
Of course I have to share a side by side comparison:
Lilly at 13 months:
You at 13 months: (official 13 month pictures pending!)
Generally you are a pretty happy guy-temperamental at times more so than your sister-but if we take you out side or give you a snack you usually perk up! Last week we did have a few days when you weren't yourself. Perhaps it was teething? a reaction to your shots? allergies? We have no clue. You fought your naps like crazy and ended up falling asleep in the swing. I took you in for a check and your ears and throat were clear. You were really fussy (more so than usual) and nothing seemed to make you happy. Poor guy. You have since perked back up and for that I am glad! EDIT: This was short lived as this past weekend you were back to being sick-much worse this time-poor thing!
Lately you seem to be really tiring yourself out so much that not only have you fallen asleep in the swing you also have fallen asleep sitting up and while eating a Popsicle. I guess we have just been wearing you out lately.
Other fun things you did this month:
Attended Kiddie Academy's 20th birthday party
Made a Yogurt Mountain trip (you love froyo!)
Went to Outdoor World and the airport park
Had lots of outside time!
Played in your pool for the first time
Had lots of picnics and did a lot of porch sitting (with ice cream of course!)
You helped mommy pick out our first new family car!
Had dinner at Sunset Cove in Middle River-you loved the water and got on a boat for the first time!
You went to Kyle's graduation party:
You loved playing corn hole! You would get so proud of yourself when you made it in the hole!
Even though you were still not feeling well, Sunday was a better day and you had no fever. You were happy to be outside so we took a nice long walk at the park and played outside-It was needed because you took two good naps! You LOVED checking out the geese at Friends park. You could have stayed all day!
After some fresh air and two good naps, you went to the park to celebrate your cousin Allie's 2nd birthday. You had some fun moments and you loved swinging with Daddy and resting. I think your favorite part was playing in the ice that was dumped from the cooler!
At this point, little man, I just want to get you better! We love you so so much and it hurts to see you so sick. We have had a great month since your first birthday and it stinks to end it on such a sour note. Get better quickly bud! Until I get a chance to take your 13 months pictures, I was happy to get a good one of you at the park. Happy 13 months!
